Read about one of our great broodmares, Meradas Little Sue

The Fort Ranch is owned by Frank L. VanderSloot as a division of Riverbend Ranch. Riverbend Ranch is one of the top 20 commerical cattle operations in the United States as well as being one of the top 20 purebred cattle operations in the United States and is the ONLY ranch with this distinction.

The Fort Ranch manages their horse and livestock operations by keeping the old traditions and ranching values alive and well, while blending them with modern range management for optimum production. Our colts run out on our high mountain pastures until weaning, they are strong, fit, and agile.  The natural conditions at the Fort Ranch allow the foals to develop in the three most critical areas; bone structure, heart and lungs, and the muscular system.  Modern research shows that the broader and more varied the types of exercise the young horse receives, the more overall body strength and soundness the foal develops.  The large pastures and rough terrain at the Fort Ranch give the developing foals the physical and mental experiences that develop overall body strength and athletic ability.  This can greatly increase the young horse's chances of long term superior performance.

The Fort Ranch training program for these young horses is outstanding.  Currently Frank VanderSloot has several prospects in training with Brian Anderson. Including Meradas Little Sue's 2003 sorrel stud colt by Peptoboonsmal (embryo transfer) named Quite A Boon and his full sister Pinkys Little Sue! Also in training with Brian Anderson, Smart Starlight Gem; a 2002 daughter of Grays Starlight, and Richochets Sue, a great stud prospect by Smart Richochet and out of Meradas Little Sue.

Some other prospects currently in training include Sues Best Bet (f. Bet On Me 498 - Meradas Little Sue, by Freckles Merada), Sweet Red Kitten (f. High Brow Cat - Sweet Red Wine), Little Holi Lena (F. Smart Little Lena - Holidoc Lena).

Brian has several two and three-year-old prospects in training. Two-year-olds include Smart Zee Lena (s. Smart Little Lena - Zee Duel Lee), Cow Kwacker (s. High Brow Cat - Rubby Doo Too), Tenina Ichi (f. Cat Khi - Little Tenina), Hip Hip SueRay (f. Dual Rey - Meradas Little Sue, by Freckles Merada). Three-Year-Olds include Sues Little Duel (s. Dual Pep - Meradas Little Sue, by Freckles Merada), Mister Boonlight (s. Peptoboonsmal - Starlight Gem, by Grays Starlight), Bet On You 405 (Bet On Me 498 - Sneakin Up Onu).

The combination of great breeding, and being raised in the wide open country at the Fort Ranch, gives these horses the added start so many horses in the industry don't get.  We believe this makes the difference when it comes to what is asked of these young horses.  They can take it, and the natural cow and agility bred into these colts make them a trainer's dream.

For several decades the Fort Ranch has been committed to providing a superior selection of bloodlines of proven genetic value.  Six of the Fort Ranch stallions are sons of the NCHA Top Sires of all times.  We've added a new stallion to our line up, an own son of PLAY GUN and out of MY ANGEL OF BLUE, the last daughter of ROYAL BLUE BOON and full sister to PEPTOBOONSMAL, check back as we add more information about this nice stud.

Our 36th Annual Production Sale will feature foals by excellent stallions and broodmares.  The sale will be held June 22, 2013 and we have an online catalog available for your viewing, click here.  We encourage you to come to Promontory, Utah for the sale and view the lineup of foals that could be your next winner.  We are proud of our program, and the bloodlines we promote.
